— About me, social media, and how to get in touch
Stephen Godfrey is a born and raised Sydney photographer.
He grew up with weekly trips to his grandparents where is was surrounded by the photographs of National Geographic and Time which is where his interest in photography first started.
Previously, Stephen worked in higher education as a Lecturer and Tutor of Mathematics while he was working on a research project. While working in 2008 he started using his spare time to explore different styles of photography and come to find his love of street photography and it’s spontaneous nature.
It was after his father passed away in 2010 that he felt the need to start making something of his photography and fell into the creative world of Theatre and Film. Ever since then he has taken production stills and poster shots for various plays, musicals, and short films.
He has been in several in several exhibitions; “Street” (2013) at the State Library of New South Wales, “Take a Bow Finalists Exhibition” (2013) shown in Ballarat and Melbourne, “The end of the beginning” (2014) at 10x8 gallery, “Frame 17a” (2016) at the Australian Centre of Photography and most recently “Coterie” (2016) at Depot gallery.
